Meghalaya: Governor’s gold and silver medals awarded to 14 AR personnel

Dimapur, June 29 (EMN): 14 Assam Rifles personnel were conferred with the Governor’s gold and silver medals for gallantry and distinguished Seva during an impressive investiture ceremony held at Raj Bhavan in Shillong on June 29. This was stated in an update issued by the Assam Rifles issued on June 29. The Governor’s gold and silver medal is said to have been instituted in the year 1957 and are said to be awarded as a recognition for acts of gallantry and meritorious service by the personnel of Assam Rifles in the northeastern states. Governor of Meghalaya Ganga Prasad is said to have praised the yeoman service and dedication to duty exhibited by the Assam Rifles over the past 183 years while operating in the rugged and inhospitable terrain of the Northeast. The governor is also said to have interacted with the awardees and guests during the ceremony.
