Meghalaya CM meets Rajnath

PTI NEW DELHI, NOVEMBER 1 Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma today met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and discussed with him various issues, including killing of an IB officer in the state last month. During the 20-minute meeting, the Chief Minister briefed the Home Minister on the prevailing law and order situation in Meghalaya and the steps taken to tackle the insurgency problem, especially in Garo hills region. Killing of an Intelligence Bureau officer and a trader in Garo hills, bordering Bangladesh, also figured in the discussion, sources said. The IB officer and the trader, who were travelling in a public transport, were kidnapped by Garo militants last month and their bodies were recovered after nearly a month. Intelligence Bureau functions under the direct control of the Home Ministry, headed by Rajnath Singh.
