DIMAPUR — A two-day mega job expo, organised by the Mokokchung district planning and development board (DPDB) and district skill committee, got underway at Fazl Ali College in Mokokchung on Tuesday with the advisor of Water Resources and chairman of Mokokchung DPDB, Tongpang Ozukum, as the special guest on the theme “Connecting careers.”
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Ozukum lauded the organisers for their initiative in organising the two-day mega job expo keeping in mind Nagaland’s employment scenario. Noting the excessive employment ratio scenario in Nagaland, Ozukum stated that major portion of development funds is being utilised in payment of salaries.
In this context, he urged upon the youth to seek different opportunities provided by private sectors for self-sustenance. He opined that one would understand the real meaning of work culture and value of money only they learned to enjoy working in a diverse environment, stated a DIPR report.
Emphasising on the importance of skills in today’s world, he encouraged the youth to pursue a career that suits their skill set and grab the opportunity to interact with recruiting agencies. He also hoped that the mega job expo would benefit many job seekers.
Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), Business Association of Nagas (BAN) and Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung, are the partners for the mega job expo. The logistic partners are Assam Rifles, Mokokchung Channel, Tir Yimyim and The Morung Express.
The primary objective of the job expo was to facilitate employment opportunities for unemployed youths of the state.
Altogether, 28 partnering companies are offering job opportunities to the unemployed youth at the two days mega expo.
The programme was hosted by Dr. Limasenla Jamir, while the deputy commissioner and chairman of planning committee, Thsuvisie Phoji, delivered the welcome address.
The secretary of planning committee, T Imlisunep Ao, delivered the keynote address, while short speeches were delivered by the vice principal of FAC, Vinod Kumar; president of BAN, Mongkum Jamir; and Japanese teacher.
The mega job expo was aimed at bringing employers and job seekers together on a common platform to promote job opportunities. It also provided opportunities to job seekers to explore potential career paths and secure gainful employment.
