DIMAPUR — A one-day mega agriculture awareness and credit camp was held on October 19 at the Socunoma village council hall, attended by members of self-help groups and farmers from seven villages under Medziphema.
Socunoma is a model village for self-help groups (SHGs), with around 12 SHGs performing well in their businesses, as highlighted by Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) area coordinator (SISD BMMU), Medziphema, Kedale, according to an update.
She stated that, through its association with the model village over the past seven years, NSRLM has enabled SHGs mostly consisting of women, to perform well.
Delivering the keynote address, RBO regional manager Hubert AS Wungshim emphasised how agricultural finance plays a pivotal role in enabling farmers to procure modern technologies to enhance the agricultural sector.
Stressing the importance of maintaining financial discipline, Wungshim assured participants that SBI is always ready to assist farmers.
During the event, RBO chief manager Credit Rapi Pao Poumai handed over sanction letters to members of the SHGs.
The financing of Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loans to SHGs was highlighted by deputy manager RBO, Paotingul Hangsing, while the importance of financial literacy was presented by manager FI RBO, T Lhingneikim.
It was mentioned that the awareness camp discussed topics on agriculture-related financial schemes such as KCC, animal husbandry and fisheries, Prime Minister Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME), Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), and other social security schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and Atal Pension Yojana (APY).
The event was organised by the State Bank of India (SBI) ACB Medziphema branch.
