Meeting on Childline (1098) held in Peren

Dimapur, Jan. 10 (EMN): A meeting for initiation of Childline (1098) service for Peren district was held on January 9 in the DC’s conference hall, New Headquarters, Peren. During the meeting, Sandeep Kumar Mitra, who was the resource person, briefed on the Childline (1098) service. He said Childline (1098) is a national 24 hour free phone emergency outreach service for children in need of care and protection. He also added that Childline aims at protecting the rights of children, deals with missing and abused children besides providing shelter, rescue and medical aid, etc. Deputy commissioner, Peren, S Tainiu, chaired the programme and also delivered the welcome address. Government officials and representatives from NGO attended the programme.
