DIMAPUR, AUG 2

THE public of Medziphema will be taking it to the streets on August 5 next to register their angst and umbrage against a series of unsolved murders and “factional killings” that have rattled the village during the last seven months or so. Since mid-December last year, at least four dead bodies have been found “dumped” in and around Medziphema village which in turn has caused outrage among the residents.
Chairman of Medziphema Village Council (mvc), Neikhonyu Kuotsu told Eastern Mirror on Friday evening that the proposed mass public rally had solely been called to proclaim that the public would not tolerate anymore killings or “the practice of dumping dead bodies” in the area.
A memorandum, demanding an immediate end to the killings and “dumping” of dead bodies within the village jurisdiction, will also be submitted to the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Medziphema, he informed.
The MVC chairman informed that dead bodies have been recovered in the area on December 18 and 24 last year, March 18 and June 27 this year.
In a press statement issued Friday, the MVC informed that the rally will commence from 9 am onwards. It requested all the residents to attend the rally and register their “unhappiness” over the series of incidents.
