Dimapur, May 26 (EMN): Heeding to the call “Beat plastic pollution,” the youth department of Baptist Church ‘A’ Medziphema Town (BC’A’MT), undertook a cleanliness drive in and around the local ground, Medziphema, on May 26.
Led by activists Kenino Makritsu and Vikhilie Terhüja as coordinators of the cleanup campaign, large number of youth have participated to show solidarity towards maintaining eco-friendly environment. The organisers also distributed some local-made paper bags to nearby shopkeepers freely in order to discourage the use of plastic bags.
It may be noted that the “The Himalayan Cleanup” day was observed by the 12 mountain states including Nagaland on May 26.
Megozo Meru, renowned environment activist, was also present. Akhoto Kuotsu, president MTMK, has thanked the organisers for the initiative to contribute in a small yet positive manner through mass participation.
