Dimapur, Oct. 14 (EMN): The measles-rubella vaccination campaign in Peren district is trucking through some unlikely places, and the work appears quite a handful including having to convince some people in areas that the authorities called ‘resistant to vaccination.’
According to updates from the district’s health authorities, a good number of nongovernmental organisations and government agencies, including the security forces, are engaged in the vaccination campaign.
“The campaign has been on the run” the establishment of Peren’s chief medical officer stated in a press release that was issued to the media on Sunday. The workforce includes personnel from the chief medical officer, and the administration and departments. “Sensitization” and training programmes have been conducted for medical officers, vaccinators, and health workers, besides members of schools and church leaders, the establishment stated.
“Intensive awareness program has been carried out in all the schools, churches, villages and towns reaching out to the schools principals, church leaders, village councils’ members and ward chairman. Parent’s teachers meeting, mothers meeting, health units’ staff meeting is being conducted and is ongoing,” the press release stated.
Further, according to the district, there are certain areas where ‘resistance towards vaccination is found.’ Due to this, the updates informed, “exclusive and intensive, one on one meetings is being conducted to reach out to them.”
“It’s a major task to reach out to each and every child from 9 months-15 years and thus it’s important that all communities especially parents come forward and make it a point to vaccinate their children for a healthy and better future.”
The security forces are in the campaign too. “Since the start of the campaign, the Assam Rifles in Peren district has been at its best helping out in every possible way they could.
The work force team under Peren district is working relentlessly and tirelessly and thus call upon the public in general for their support for the success of the campaign,” the updates added.
