MDMAA to celebrate silver jubilee

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 8: The Mokokchung District Martial Art Association (MDMAA) is all set to celebrate its 25 years of existence. To mark its silver anniversary, the MDMAA would be organizing a 2-day celebration accompanied by commemorative Martial Art Tournament October 10 and 12 at Multi Sports Hall, Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung.
According to a press release from the organizers, the anniversary programme would be graced by the retired bureaucrat Alemtemshi Jamir. “Recollection from the pioneers will be delivered by Sashi Ao. Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Sushil Kumar Patel IAS will exhort the gathering and commemorative tournament will be declared open by the chief guest,” it stated.
The closing program would be graced by S Chuba Longkumer, parliamentary secretary for Veterinary and Animal Husbandry.
“MDMAA has produced quite a number of talented martial art practitioners over the years, bagging medals in various tournaments across the country and abroad. Notable among them are Miss Bendangjungla who twice won Bronze medals in Muay Thai in Thailand, Mr. Talisunep who won another Muay Thai Bronze in Thailand also, and Mr. Bendangakum who was inducted into the Indian Kung Fu Federation Hall of Fame on May 1, 2016.
“MDMAA at present consists of 7 disciplines, namely, Inside Kung Fu, New Kung Fu, Kick Boxing, Taekwondo, Boxing, Muay Thai and International Karate Federation,” the press release read.
