Dimapur, July 28 (EMN): As part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahatsov, Mokokchung district legal services authority (MDLSA) held an awareness talk with the members of Mokokchung Press Club (MPC) on Lok Adalat and the Nagaland Victim Compensation Scheme 2012 at the DPRO’s office, Mokokchung, on July 28.
An update from MPC stated that Limanungsang Jamir, retainer lawyer of MDLSA, gave a brief introduction to the working and functioning of Lok Adalat and MDLSA, while Mapujungla, MDLSA project assistant, gave a detailed talk on Nagaland Victim Compensation Scheme 2012 and Lok Adalat.
While briefing the gathering, the project assistant informed that Lok Adalats are held every three months but the responses from the public was disheartening especially with reference to Mokokchung district. She stated that although Lok Adalats offer the public a good opportunity to resolve disputes amicably and conveniently, many people still do not fully appreciate their advantages.
She informed that the next Lok Adalat would be held on August 8.
Meanwhile, MPC president, Limalenden Longkumer, thanked MDLSA for the session and assured assistance of the club members in disseminating information about the advantages of various legal initiatives.
The awareness talk ended with an interaction session between the MDLSA and MPC members.
