MDFA Trophy:Nyithung scores 5 goals as Fusion SC rout YAM; Hills XI FC, Socianion and OCYU register wins

Dimapur, October 6:  Nyithan scored five goals for Fusion SC in a 7-0 rout over Youth Association Merepkong (YAM) in the MDFA Trophy 2016 on Thursday.

Defending champions, Fusion SC triumphed over Youth Association Merepkong (YAM), Nyithang scored four goals in just 10 minutes thereby becoming the first player to score a hat-trick at the ongoing MDFA Trophy 2016. Nyithang scored in 12^th, 15th, 20th, 21st minute during the first half and scored again in 57^th minute.

During the second half, defending champions dominated the game and T Meren scored another goal in the 47th minute. Another goal came easily at the 49th minute, as T Meren Jamir netted his second goal. Nyithang rose to the occasion again and with assistance from his fellow teammates, sealed the match in the 57th minute with Fusion SC sailing into the pre-quarters with seven goals under their belt. Youth Association Merepkong tried their best but couldn’t pass through the stubborn defence of the Fusion SC.The second match of the day, between Tongdenyong and Hills XI FC, ended with Hills XI scoring four goals.

The third match witnessed a game between Alempang Youth Association and Socianian FC  which ended with the Socianians’ triumphing over the Alempang YA 3-1.

The dark horse of the tournament, OCYU in their second match of the MDFA Trophy 2016 triumphed over Mongsenbai Yongsterz FC by scoring four goals.

The prestigious MDFA Trophy 2016 marches on with more exciting matches on the cards till the 22nd October.
