MDFA Trophy: OCYU draws with Moanungsang Memorial SC

Mokokchung, October 4: The inaugural match of MDFA Trophy 2016, played between OCYU and Moanungsang Memorial Sporting Club (MMSC) ended in a scoreless draw here at Imkongmeren Sports Complex on Tuesday.

With equal ball possession, OCYU got some fair chances to net their goal but failed to take their chances.  Moanungsang also came back strongly in the final minutes but were stopped by some staunch defending by OCYU. Imstisungkum of Moanungsang Memorial Sporting Club was penalised with yellow card.

Meanwhile, the chief guest, parliamentary secretary for Tourism, C Apok Jamir, also inaugurated the newly constructed rostrum coinciding with the MDFA tournament 2016.

“Sport is an area which brings universal acceptance, peace, progress and unity among people, tribes and community” he said during the inauguration.

He maintained that despite all sincere effort in every department and area by the government in the state, people have failed to reciprocate as they should. Therefore to reach logical end in all areas and aspects, collective effort of the government and the people was much needed, Apok said.
