MDFA Trophy: Intermingle and Telongjem sail to semis

Mokokchung, Oct. 23 (EMN): Intermingle Club merciless slaughtered YA Marepkong  8-0  to qualify for the semis while Telongjem FC booked their berth for the semis through a tie-breaker penalty shootout  during the quarter-final matches in the ongoing MDFA Trophy, at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex, in Mokokchung on Oct. 23.

The first and second goal for Intermingle was scored by Yhunshalo in the 13th and 16th minute. Lipoksashi Jamir and Golmei Ninja scored in the 31st and 35th minute.

In the second half of the match, four more goals were scored. Yhunshalo secured a hat-trick in the 65th minute. Limakumzuk and Bendangnukshi scored in the 78th and 90th minute of the game.

The last goal for Intermingle came through Sakutemjen in the last additional minute of the game.

The 4th semi-final match was played between Grand Elites SC and Telongjem FC. With a 50-50 ball possession, the first 45 minutes of the game ended in a goalless draw. Nampy Rentta of Telogjem FC scored the first goal in the 65th minute. However, Grand Elites SC scored an equaliser in the 78th minute of the game.

With both the teams failing to score any goal till the 90th minute, the winner of the match was decided through a tie-breaker penalty shootout.

Telogjem FC won the tie breaker 6-5 and registered their spot in the semi-finals of the MDFA Trophy.
