MDCA Celebrates silver jubilee

Mokokchung, Jan.4: The Mokokchung District Cricket Association (MDCA) today celebrated its silver jubilee with Sushil Kumar Patel (IAS), Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung as the chief guest at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung.
Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner, who is also the President of Mokokchung District Sports Council, declared the MDCA Inter Club Cricket Tournament 2017 open commemorating the 25th anniversary of MDCA.
Addressing the brief inaugural programme, Sushil Kumar Patel expressed that cricket is a gentlemen’s game and that as a sport it has got more potential to provide opportunities and career than the other sports in India.
In this regard, he also encouraged the young cricket aspirants who have the potential to take it to the next level by using their talents.
He also congratulated the MDCA and all the officials on the historic event as they celebrate their 25 years of existence. Earlier, Patel also released the MDCA silver jubilee souvenir.
Earlier, Er Chubatoshi, president MDCA delivered the welcome address after which the Psaldomic Ensemble presented a special song. The inaugural function was followed by MDCA Inter Club Cricket Tournament 2017 which was played between Titans CC and ADC Tuli XI.
A total of 15 teams from across Mokokchung district will be competing for the most coveted cricketing title in the district, the final of which would be played on 20th January 2017. The tourney is played in T20 format.

Defending Champions Titans CC win opening match

Defending champions Titans CC beat ADC Tuli XI by 6 wickets in the silver jubilee edition of Mokokchung District Cricket Association Tournament that kicked off on Wednesday.
After winning the toss ADC Tuli XI elected to bat first and managed to score 108 runs losing 6 wickets in their quota of 20 overs.
Pancha top scored with 43 not out while Imnakumba contributed 20 runs.
Longsasunep of Titans CC took 3 wickets giving away 19 runs and Toshimeren and Ato chang took 2/15 and 1/12 respectively.
Chasing the small target of 109 runs Titans CC went all guns blazing and reached the target in just 14.4 overs losing 4 wickets.
Akumdong top scored with 36 runs and was well supported by Toshimeren (27 not out) who played a fine captain’s knock steering the team to victory.
Lanukora was the pick among the bowlers of ADC Tuli XI with a figure of 2/15. Limakumba and Jungshi took 1 wicket each.

Thursday’s match:
8 a.m. – Sovran CC Vs DC XI
11 a.m. – Trebuchet Vs Zero Boys
