DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 2: Mokokchung District Boxing Association (MDBA) has announced to organise free boxing clinics within the next few months where all the boxing enthusiasts irrespective of age, sex or community can take part and avail the training from certified trainers. In this connection, MDBA has invited all the aspiring boxing enthusiasts to contact the association for registration and coaching.
The ultimate aim of the MDBA is to train up youngsters and make them professional boxers with the hope that one day they would represent the nation in the Olympic boxing competition. Towards this end, MDBA has already roped in renowned sports personalities in the core team; prominent among them are senior citizen and bodybuilder Subong Longkumer, veteran sportsperson and former bureaucrat Meren Paul and conservationist and martial artist C Tia Longkumer as the senior advisor of the Association and entrepreneur and boxing enthusiast Merang Longkumer as treasurer.
MDBA, which was started on September 5 this year, had its first formal official meeting at the residence of Senior Advisor, Subong Longkumer, on October 1. MDBA was formed by likeminded sports personalities in Mokokchung especially those in the field of martial arts and senior boxers. It aims to train youngsters in the field of sports to look beyond the confines of the district and the state and to excel in the national and international levels.
MDBA also envisages inculcating among the youngsters the essence of self-discipline, the art of wellbeing, the importance of healthy living and most important of all maintaining a healthy lifestyle as a responsible citizen through a balanced life of body, mind and soul.
The association is headed by Imkummeren Jamir as president and Rongsentoshi Jamir as vice president, Aolong Imchen as general secretary, Bendangtemsu Ozukum as assistant general secretary and Merang Longkumer as treasurer.
