Dimapur, June 7 (EMN): Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) has detected four persons without proper trading documents and preying on unassuming buyers to sell their counterfeit electronic products.
In a press release, MCCI president, Tsukti Longkumer, and the general secretary, Limalenden Longkumer, informed that four such persons were produced before its office on June 7 by some concerned citizens. They were found to be travelling in a Scorpio vehicle bearing registration No. WB 16Q 9700 without any business permit selling fake Sony HD led Series 3200A television sets and Sony home theatre surround sound speakers.
Further, they were travelling on ILPs issued by the DC’s office, Dimapur, for visiting Tuensang, Kiphire and Mokokchung.
Hailing from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, they were suspected to be members of a highly organised counterfeit electronic goods business operating nationwide. It was also believed that they have travelled to Mokokchung in view of the soon to happened FIFA World Cup.
“It was not the first instance that such dubious traders from outside the district were detected. On several occasions, such imposters were caught in Mokokchung selling fake electronic goods,’ MCCI statement said.
MCCI has informed all the customers and public to be on guard and remain vigilant against such imposters. MCCI has further advised all the residents to buy electronic goods only from genuine retailers on producing proper bills and vouchers.
