Dimapur, Oct. 28 (EMN): The Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) has asked business establishments in Mokokchung not to ‘entertain’ any ‘illegal tax’ collectors, or ‘persons of dubious identity seeking donations in cash or kind.’
The MCCI issued a press release on Sunday stating the caution. The organisation also asked the business groups not to ‘entertain anybody engaged in selling calendars, concert or buffet tickets, lottery or raffle tickets and other similar items.’
“Members of the business community of Mokokchung are hereby reminded not to entertain any illegal tax collectors or persons of dubious identity seeking donations in cash or kind,” the press release read.
“Further, shops and business establishments in Mokokchung are instructed not to entertain anybody engaged in selling calendars, concert or buffet tickets, lottery or raffle tickets and other similar items.”
The organisation referred to a circular stated to have been issued by the Mokokchung Municipal Council that all traders and shops in the town have proper trade permits issued by the council in their respective place of business. They are also to display proper signboards indicating their trade permit number and name of the shop.
‘All shops and business establishments are also required to place proper waste bins. Meat shops, fish stalls and restaurants are to display latest rate boards in their respective places of business and their staffs are required to wear apron or appropriate clothing,’ the MCCI added.
The municipal council had informed that routine checking shall be conducted from November 5 and that violators would be penalised.
“Members of the business community in general are also requested to keep their establishments and their premises neat and clean,” the MCCI added.
