Dimapur, Feb. 6 (EMN): Mokokchung Chamber and Commerce and Industry (MCCI) has appreciated to the police and administration of Mokokchung district for their timely and proactive intervention in resolving the issue pertaining to the strike called by the truck drivers.
MCCI president, Tsukti Longkumer, and the general secretary, Limalenden Longkumer, stated that Mokokchung town and nearby areas were almost running out of essential commodities in the market after the Mariani based truck drivers’ union resorted to a strike since January 29. The truck drivers resorted to the strike following an incident wherein a commercial truck driver was assaulted by some miscreants on January 28.
It stated that despite immediatearrest of the miscreants by the Mokokchung police, the truck drivers went ahead to impose the strike to show their resentment and grievances. MCCI added that the issue was resolved on February 6 with the intervention of the Mokokchung district administration.
MCCI has also appreciated the consumers and public in general for bearing with the inconveniences and showing maturity by not panicking or resorting to compulsive hoarding.
MCCI further informed the public that the shortage of LPG in the market was not related to the above issue adding the matter is concurrently being addressed by the competent authority. It appealed the consumers to exhibit the same show of maturity and bear with the inconvenience as the matter is expected to be resolved soon.
