Mokokchung, Sep. 15 (EMN): In expressing solidarity with the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industries (DCCI) and in support of the Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CNCCI), the Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MCCI) announced to close all shops and business establishments in Mokokchung town on September 16 from 6 am to 6 pm.

MCCI stated that the one-day closure of shops and business establishments was necessitated to bring to the notice of the state government of the grievances faced by the business community of Nagaland on multiple taxations by Naga political groups, tax/ fee levied by civic bodies and government agencies on items that fall under the GST regime.

It also accused the state government of failing to enact the Securitisation and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest (Sarfaesi) Act and the demand for reservation of nominee representation to municipal, town and ad-hoc town councils from the business community.

In a related statement, the East Dimapur Business Association (EDBA) extended full support to Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) for total shutdown of all shops and business establishments on September 16 against multiple and rampant illegal taxation by various groups as well as government agencies.

The EDBA president, Atoka Zhimomi, and the joint secretary, Krishma Chetri, have announced closure of all shops and businesses within its jurisdiction.
