Dimapur, June 23 (EMN): The Medziphema Baptist Khriesarüü Krotho (MBKK) organised a volleyball tournament for the youths in celebration of its Raising Day which falls on June 19 every year.
According to an update received here on Sunday, the tournament was held at Thehouba ground, Ward – 5 in Medziphema town on June 22, with participation from four Angami Naga Baptist churches in Medziphema.
Deputy director, Youth Resources & Sports, Megolhu Dolie, who attended the inaugural ceremony exhorted the youths that discipline should be given utmost importance in order to excel in games and sports. Sharing his past experiences as a sports student where even few seconds are counted, Dolie further advised the youths that time factor and healthy diets too are pre-requisites for sportsman. Citing examples on how youngsters of the area play excessively from afternoon till dusk, he affirmed that “it’s not necessary to put extra hours in your play time but rather, precise schedule of play with proper guidance and training that counts in the end”.
Dolie also shared detailed information on means to apply for sports stream in various institutions across India.
In men’s category, Baptist Church, Medziphema village romped home with the champions’ trophy while Town Baptist Church, Medziphema was declared the runners-up.
In women’s category, Baptist Church Medziphema village, was crowned winners whereas Baptist Church ‘A’ Medziphema Town, emerged as runners-up.
