Maths coaching for HSLC students underway in Phek

A one-month long Mathematics coaching class for HSLC appearing candidates (Class 10) under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) got underway at Government Higher Secondary School, Phek, on February 15.

Dimapur, Feb. 16 (EMN): A one-month long Mathematics coaching class for HSLC appearing candidates (Class 10) under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) got underway at Government Higher Secondary School, Phek, on February 15.

The coaching class is being initiated by the district administration and the district level centre for women – Mahila Shakti Kendra (DLCW-MSK), Phek, in a bid to boost the confidence of students appearing the HSLC examinations 2021, an update from DLCW-MSK Phek stated on Tuesday.

Speaking at the inaugural programme, the deputy commissioner of Phek, Razouvolie Dozo, informed that the initiative to organise coaching camp was to help students during this crucial hour since they were affected in their studies by the pandemic. The DC was of the view that poor performance in Mathematics has been a concern in all the districts.

He, therefore, stated that the initiative was undertaken by the administration under BBBP in order to boost their moral and also help students get good grade.

Also speaking on the occasion, N Bhavani Sri, SDO (C) and BBBP nodal officer, Phek, urged the students to have an ambition, be consistent and work upon it to achieve their goals. The officer also called upon the students to work hard to excel in their academic performance.

She encouraged the students to put in their effort to learn and benefit from the free coaching class. She also requested them to work hard and be sincere during the month-long coaching and not to take up studies just as a responsibility but as a passion.

Reminding that Mathematics is very important for developing analytical skills, she stated that aptitude is extremely important for clearing many competitive exams such as UPSC, CAT, GMAT etc.

Principal of GHSS, Phek, Kewetshete Wezah challenged the students to grab the opportunity and prepare themselves well for exam and come out with flying colours. He also urged them not to just come for the sake of attending the coaching class but to have their goals and know the purpose.

The teachers for the coaching are Ashok Kumar, B.Sc. Maths, B.Ed; and Kezevituo Chielie, M.Sc. Maths, B.Ed.

Around 200 students in Phek from different institutions have enrolled for the free coaching class. With two batches on daily basis, the class would start from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

Meanwhile, note books, pen, masks ,hand sanitiser and refreshment were distributed to all the students on the first day. The coaching class would conclude on March 15.
