Imphal, June 8 (EMN):
In an attempt to become the first 100 percent vaccinated village in Manipur’s Senapati district bordering Nagaland, a mass vaccination programme was held at Maram village centre, 80 km north of Imphal on Tuesday.

According to reports, the vaccination programme commenced with the support of Dr. Anthony, medical officer in charge of Public Health Centre at Maram and Dr. Peter, district immunisation officer of Senapati district.

‘Initially most of the local people were sceptical of the vaccine following rumours of the adverse effects of the vaccine. Success of the drive was through the initiative of the village public leaders, village authority and prompt response of the village members, a resident of Maram centre stated.

370 persons including 300 (above 18 years), 69 (above 45 years) and one frontline worker were vaccinated. Differently able-persons were also vaccinated at their homes.

Till date, according to official reports, a total of 10,618 doses of Covishield vaccines including 7983 first and 2635 second doses were given to residents of Senapati district.Tripura registers GSDP growth amid Covid-19 pandemic
