Chümoukedima district carried out a mass social work drive to improve drainage and sanitation before monsoon rains.

DIMAPUR — A district-wide mass social work was conducted across Chümoukedima district on Friday as part of monsoon preparedness measures.
According to a DIPR report, the exercise focused on cleaning and unclogging drains, removal of debris and construction materials, waste disposal, clearing of foliage, and maintenance of public spaces and utilities.
SDO (C) and RO, Chümoukedima, Thejavizo Nakhro, led a joint inspection along National Highway-29 during the social work.

A coordinated team comprising the Water Resources department, PWD, PHED, Fire and Emergency Services, 1st NAP Battalion, Chümoukedima Town Youth Organisation and NHIDCL undertook cleaning activities along the NH stretch from 3rd Mile Airport culvert to Chathe Bridge (Patkai Bridge).
The social work was conducted through the collective efforts of government departments, Chümoukedima Town Council, village councils, GBs, civil society organisations and members of the public across the district.
The initiative was undertaken to encourage community participation and promote a cleaner and healthier environment ahead of the monsoon season.
