Dimapur, Nov. 2 (EMN): A mass awareness campaign was launched in Peren with an aim for sustainable prevention of Covid-19 community transmission in the district.

The programme was organised by ‘team one’ in collaboration with department of Health and Family Welfare and NSDMA, Peren at deputy commissioner’s conference hall on November 2.

The DC of Peren, Sentiwapang Aier, advised the organiser to tie up with various government departments to witness more successful convergence even in coming days, a DIPR update stated on Monday. He said that coming up with such an awareness programme in the district is a good opportunity for the public to stay more aware of Covid-19.

“During the initial period nobody knew how to react to Covid-19 but with the efforts of the Medical department, district administration, district task force and civil societies, the district has witnessed zero fatalities till today but majority of the public are ignorant of the safety measures to prevent community transmission,” it read.

He also said that a mass awareness campaign is the need of the hour to prevent uncontrolled community transmission in the district. Besides the facilities provided by the state government, team one and every individual should give collective effort for the welfare of the people in the district, he said. He also urged the gathering to strictly follow the government SOPs.
