Dimapur, May 4 (EMN): As the country enters the third phase of lockdown, which has been extended for two more weeks (till May 17), here in Nagaland, the government is preparing to normalise daily activities slowly, starting from lifting the containment of Marwari Patti in the state’s commercial hub, Dimapur.
The area was designated an ‘orange zone’ after one of its
residents was tested positive for Covid-19.
The deputy commisioner (DC) of Dimapur, Anoop Khinchi, informed Eastern Mirror that the sealing of Marwari Patti will be lifted on May 5, except for Thakurbari area.

The DC of Mon, Thavaseelan K, also informed that the
district will have certain shops open but with strict guidelines to be
followed. Stores and shops selling essential goods will be opened until further
advisories are issued, he informed adding that it was finalised at a DTF
meeting on Monday.
“Salons, restaurant and the likes will still remain shut but
others will be open where proprietors have to make sure to maintain and follow
the guidelines,” said Thavaseelan.
Further, Kumar Ramnikant, the DC of Tuensang informed that
the district is doing fine and following all guidelines.
“We have received one guideline for intra-district movement;
have called DTF meeting on Tuesday to decide modalities,” said the DC.
When asked about travellers entering the district now that
intra-district travel was allowed, he informed that people moving within the
state won’t be quarantined as Nagaland is a ‘green zone’.
Meanwhile, in an order issued on Monday the commissioner of
police, Dimapur, has relaxed the earlier promulgation of prohibitive orders
under Section 144 CrPC; it will now be in force only from 5 pm to 6 am till May
17 during which assembly movement of five and more persons would be strictly
prohibited.
The exempted list remains unchanged, he informed.
- All shops including shops in residential complex and market complexes EXCEPT shops at multi-brand and single brand malls, outside the limits of municipalities and town councils with 50% strength of workers with wearing of masks and social distancing being mandatory.
- All shops including neighbourhood shops and stand alone shops, shops in residential complexes within the limits of municipalities and town councils EXCEPT shops in market complex and multi-brand and single brand malls with 50% strength of workers with wearing of mask and social distancing being mandatory. (The shops shall remain open only from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm)
- However, all shops in New Market, Hong Kong Market, Hazi Park, Millenium market, Railway bazaar and vegetable market in Purana Bazar shall remain closed. All weekly bazaar to remain closed.
- Nyamo Lotha Road and MP Road will remain open. Shops in Nyamo Lotha Road and MP Road will remain open from 9;00 am to 2:00 pm as per the guidelines issued by the Chief Secretary vide No. CSO/GAB-I/COM/GEN-1/2020 dated 4th May 2020.
- Wholesale market of essential commodities will continue to operate from designated godowns as per this office order of even No.DCD/COVID-19/2020/PT-3. Dated 15th April, 2020 along with Annexure- I
- Wholesale vegetable market will continue to operate from Supermarket area as per this office order of even number DCD/COVID-19/2020/PT-2 dated 17th April, 2020.
- All public transportation including autorickshaw, cabs services shall remain prohibited.
- It is reiterated that salons, dine-in restaurants, eateries and departmental stores shall continue to remain closed. However, home deliveries from dine-in restaurants food outlets and delivery of online order of essential commodities shall be permitted.
- The proprietors of the shops and establishments which are allowed to open will make arrangements for keeping hand sanitiser or providing facilities for hand washing with soap and water for the public as well as for their own staff workers. They should also get the door handles, surfaces and other objects which are frequently touched by people to be regularly cleaned and disinfected.
