SENAPATI, November 9
Expressing deep concern over the perilous and life threatening condition of the Mao-Senapati sector of the National Highway 2 due to sprouting of thick undergrowth and shrubs grown along the route, the Mao Council urged Deputy Commissioner, Senapati to take due cognisance of the urgency of the situation and initiate prompt action for the safety of the commuters at the earliest.
In a representation to the District Administration, Mao Council Secretary A.Athili Kayina said the numerous bends and curves of the highways coupled with dense undergrowth have limited the vision of the drivers from sighting the oncoming vehicles from the opposite direction posing great life risk to the drivers and passengers.
Such roadside condition has completely obstructed and the risk of head-on collision has become very high. The occurrence of a road accident between an Alto Car and an Alto K 10 at a place located in between Makhan and Maram on October 29 this year is a clear example of this situation,he added. He also mentioned that the epicentre of the risk is more confined in between Makhan and Maram, and Lairouching and Senapati.
