Manipur’s total Covid-19 tally crosses 1 lakh mark

Imphal, Aug. 3 (EMN): With 753 new cases, Covid-19 cases in Manipur on Tuesday crossed 1 lakh-mark, taking the state’s tally to 1,00,625 with 9,490 active cases, according to the state Health department bulletin.
The new positive cases were detected from 16 districts in the state and maximum numbers of cases were reported from Imphal West (246),Imphal East(164), Bishnupur(68) and Churachandpur(63)districts.
The state also reported 14 Covid-19 fatalities in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s death toll to 1,592. The victims are from Imphal West (five), Imphal East (five), Bishnupur (two), Churachandpur (one), Noney (one) and Ukhrul (one) districts.
With 1063 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, the total number of recovered Covid-19 cases in Manipur reached 89,543. Thus, the state’s recovery rate increases to 88.98 percent.
So far 11,02,287 persons were tested for Covid-19 while 7,17,715 persons were screened at the entry points of the state at the various testing centres in the state, the source said.
Meanwhile, Manipur police detained 163 persons in the state for violating health protocols and released them after giving warning. An amount of INR 61,100 was also collected as fine.
Manipur has so far given 13,37,526 doses of Covid vaccines including 11,17,981 first and 2,19,545 second doses to the residents.
A total of 5,69,069 first doses(second dose 6670)of Covid vaccine were given to people between 18-44 years and 2,76,787 first doses and 79,224 second doses to people between 45-59 years besides 1,39,732 first doses and 41,499 second doses to people above 60 years till date, according to the state health department reports.
