Manipur’s Covid-19 positivity rate drops to 7.6%

Imphal, Sep. 2 (EMN): Manipur’s daily Covid-19 positivity rate dropped further on Thursday with state Health department bulletins reporting 299 new cases out of 3,943 samples tested. Thus, registering a rate of 7.6 percent compared to Wednesday (8.2 percent).
It is the lowest daily positivity rate since April 30, which recorded 7.98 percent. The rate picked up from May 1 onwards by registering 14.36 percent. The state is also witnessing a gradual dip in the Covid trend in the past few months.
The newly infected persons were mainly from Imphal West (139), Imphal East (59) and Ukhrul (25) districts, taking the state’s tally to 1,14,502 with 3,20 active cases, it said.
Moreover, the state reported six deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s Covid-19 death toll to 1,790. Out of the six victims, two were from Imphal East, one each from Imphal West, Chandel, Senapati and Tengnoupal districts.
On the other hand, with 361 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, the total number of recovered Covid-19 cases in Manipur reached 1,09,392. Thus, the state’s recovery rate increases to 95.53%.
Till date 12,18,686 persons were tested for Covid-19 at the various testing centres in the state, the source said.
As per latest official reports, the state has so far given 15,40,862 doses of Covid vaccines including 11,89,914 first and 3,50,948 second doses to the residents.
Meanwhile, Manipur police on Thursday detained 31 persons in the state for violating health protocols and released them after giving warning. An amount of INR 4,050 was also collected as fine.
