Manipuri lady officer to unfurl national flag at Rajpath, Delhi

A young lady army officer from Manipur will unfurl the national flag of the Republic Day parade at Rajpath in the national capital on Monday. “Lieutenant Haobam Bella Devi of Ordnance Corps has been assigned the duty this year. Lt Haobam Bella Devi, a second generation army officer, is daughter of Col HG Singh (Retd) of Top Leikei, Singjamei, Imphal,” says Public Relations Officer Lieutenant Colonel Ajay Kumar Sharma of the Defence Wing Imphal.
One of the most important and prestigious events in the Republic Day parade at Rajpath New Delhi is the unfurling of the national flag, Col Ajay Kumar added.
When the President along with the chief guest is seated, the CO of the President’s bodyguard will give command for salute, right after that, the national flag will be unfurled and national anthem will be followed before the 21 gun salutes are given.
