Manipur youths, dead chicken seller in police custody

Kohima police have arrested five persons, on two counts of crimes on Friday. Three youths from Manipur and a non-local person are in police custody for smuggling ganja while the latter accused was arrested for selling dead chicken bought from Dimapur.
Personnel of Kohima police manning the Phesama check-gate Kohima intercepted a mini truck (NL-01/G2058) carrying 480 kilograms of contraband ganja. The police estimate that the contraband is worth approximately 4.8 lakhs.
The ganja was found in 48 different packets with each packet weighting 10 kilograms, police said.Three persons have been arrested by the police for the crime. The accused have been identified as one Gideon alias Duzü Poumai, 21 years; a Tomi Rahadu Poumai, 25 years and one Dahrülou Poumai, 20 years. All of them are from Sirong village under Senapati district in the state of Manipur. The individuals have been taken into police custody and charged with the possession and transporting the contraband.
In another case, one Sitaram Sah, 30 years, of Madhawda village under Chapra district in Bihar have been arrested for selling dead chickens in Kohima town. He was arrested by personnel of Kohima police on Friday.
The police informed that Sitaram Sah was arrested from the NST hotel in the heart of Kohima town. He had purchased dead chickens, reportedly from Dimapur, and was selling it to the public. The accused is said to have served them at his restaurant at the NST hotel.
