Manipur youth finds place in new Guinness World Record title

[dropcap]M[/dropcap]AIBAM Itomba Meitei, a youth from Manipur, has made new Guinness World Record in the event “The most consecutive pinky chin ups is 16.”
The 24-year-old from Uripok Naoremthong Samushang in Imphal west, achieved the record in Imphal on March 15, 2014, a joint statement from the Brilliant Club, Uripok Naoremthong and the LAKHSH Pioneer Committee, Naoremthong Khulem Leikai on Wednesday.
Itomba Meitei is the last and sixth son of Maibam Churamani Meitei and Maibam ongbi Chandrashakhi Devi. He was born on January 1, 1988.In the earlier stage of his life, Itomba Meitei had a weak and thin body but he wanted to become a healthy and fit person. Hence, he joined a nearest local gym called Uripok Development Body Building Association at Khulem Leikai, Imphal. From there, he initiated his Physical Exercise regularly. After that, he joined SAI sports Complex, Takyel for more improvement his body.
All his efforts pertaining to physical exercises were undesirable by his poor parents. So, he decided to take share for maintenance of his family and later he joined a small work shop of Iron and Steel Industry to earn something for his requirements. In the meantime, he did not avoid his physical exercise.
In the mist of his hard labour, he participated in the State Level Weightlifting Championship in 2007 held at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex in the weight Category of 50 Kg, where he got first. In the same year, he joined the All India SAI inter Weightlifting Championship at Vishakhapatnam (AP). In that competition he got second position, besides he also participated the 4th Sub Junior (Boys) National Championship later in 2007 where he bagged the first position.
He used to see activities of Guinness World Record Holders through local cable TV. It was the beginning of his dream for becoming a Guinness World Record holder. He thought, the weakest part of human being is little finger.
But he wanted it to be used as the strongest among other fingers. After few months’ of practice, he could gain new achievement that his little fingers could support his whole body weight from some seconds to some minutes by hanging himself from a hook. He then concentrated his mind to obtain as a Guinness World Record holder in the item of Pull Up by Little Fingers.
His activity pull up was successfully shown in the Annual Yaoshang Sport Festival at his locality. On seeing the unexpected actions of Itomba Meitei, local Guardians encouraged him very much and advised him for more achievement. Itomba met the person, who is known as Samballei Sekpin, Moirangthem Okendra Singh, the Guinness World Record holder of Manipur, at Kumbi.
From him he got the inspiration of becoming a Guinness World Record holder and further important guidelines.
In the earlier record, the maximum number of pull ups by little fingers was only 16 in a minute by an American, but ltomba performed the same event of pull up more than the above. ltomba had been trying to break this record.
Itomba successfully pulled up 20 times in just 30.906 seconds during an exhibition held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Dance Academy hall on October 14, 2012.
