Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas”, the government was working for the welfare of the people with transparency, sincerity and honesty.

Biren Singh was speaking at the launching programme for distribution of benefits under Economic Development Programme (EDP) and Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) held at City Convention Center in Imphal on Saturday.

Biren Singh said that the government had successfully implemented ‘Go to Hills’ and ‘Go to Village’ missions with an objective to bring governance at people’s doorsteps. He said that there has been a lot of infrastructural development in the last four and half years with the support of the people.

Stressing that the government was trying its best to improve the rural economy of the state, he maintained that the Manipur StartUp Scheme was introduced to support entrepreneurs in the state. ‘The government has constructed and inaugurated seven women’s markets in different hill districts of the state and the construction for another 10 women’s markets are underway’, he added.

He informed that poultry chicks were being distributed to 1418 beneficiaries amounting to INR 1.13 crore, knapsack sprayers to 2544 beneficiaries amounting to INR 1.25 crore, carpentry items to 135 beneficiaries amounting to INR 1.37 crore, fish fingerlings to 2803 beneficiaries amounting to INR 2.8 crore and bicycles to 1277 minority girl students of Imphal East, Thoubal and Chandel amounting to INR 57 lakh on Saturday.

He mentioned that under PMJVK, 264 projects amounting to INR 321 crore have been completed and 318 projects amounting to INR 704 crore have been taken up in the state. The works include construction of model residential schools, Sadbhavna mandaps, PHCs etc. in both hill and valley districts.

In his speech, IPR Minister Biswajit said that to fulfil and achieve Prime Minister’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, the Manipur government was making all efforts to become a self-reliant state.
