IMPHAL — Expressing concern over the ongoing crisis in Manipur, vendors of the iconic women’s market, which is situated in the heart of Imphal city, on Friday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to end the conflict which has been going on for 10 months.

Co-convenor of Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Coordinating Committee, H Bino, said at a press conference in Imphal that the people of Manipur have been continuing to suffer due to the unending conflict which will soon complete one year.

Requesting the PM to bring a solution to the conflict, she said many women have become widows due to the unrest. How many more people will die and how many more women will become widows is questionable now because of the continuation of violence, she added.

Asserting that Manipur brings medals for the country through sports but the PM is not taking the crisis seriously, she asked if the people of the state are citizens of India.

More than 200 people have been killed and nearly 50,000 people displaced since the conflict between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities broke out on May 3 last year.
