The inaugural function was graced Minister for Commerce & Industries, Sericulture, Govindas Konthoujam as the chief guest while the Vice-Chancellor of MU, Prof HNK Sarma was the guest of honour.
Addressing the students’ community, the chief guest Govindas stressed on the importance of youth festival as it is a platform for oneness amongst youth who are the pillars of the nation and particularly the state.
“We need to open up a sense of oneness by understanding each other. Let us joint our hands together to bring peace and harmony to our society,” he said adding that the responsibility of Manipur’s future would be decided by the youth.
“As Manipur will be the gate way of Trans Asia highway, we must prepare ourselves for any consequences,” the minister urged adding “Now is the right time to think and open our eyes for our future.”
Chairing the inaugural function, Prof RK Hemakumar said that the participation of youths in such festivals will help in preparing themselves for a bright future and also to serve the nation.
The guest of honour and VC Manipur University, Prof HNK Sarma also shared a similar feeling about holding a youth festival such as this.
“The youth fest is to bring the sense of brotherhood and emotional integrity through cultural activities. So all the participants must share their own rights to understand others and unite for better tomorrow,” the VC urged.
