Manipur to participate in Regional Equestrian League
IMPHAL — Manipur will take part in the Regional Equestrian League to be held in Bengaluru from September 15 to the 17th.
The Manipur equestrian team comprising Thangjam Basanta (Captain), Khundongbam Deventy, Ningthoujam Meenakumari, Sinam Saolin and Sinam Bonbon as well as manager N Ibungochoubi left for Bengaluru on Friday to attend an intensive training programme of show jumping and dressage at the Royal Equestrian Academy (REA) for 10 days prior to the Regional Equestrian League at ASC Riding and Polo Academy, Bengaluru.
For the first time, the Manipur Equestrian Association (MEA) is sending riders for the regional league in partnership with Royal Equestrian Academy, which will be providing horses during the training and the league.
While flagging off the team, President of Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association (MHRPA) H Deleep Singh highlighted the importance of big horses being maintained and trained by the association for equestrian events.
On Manipur team’s participation in the league, Chairman of MEA N Bedajeet Singh said the association is reaching out to other equestrian institutes for better performance and the future of riders from the state.
He also expressed optimism that Manipuri riders will perform well in the regional and national equestrian events.
Former president of MEA Dr. S Joy Kumar also encouraged the young riders to wholeheartedly devote themselves and learn all the basics of dressage and show jumping.
