Imphal, March 5 (EMN): A state-level mega convention on National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 will be held at City Convention Centre at Palace Compound in Imphal on March 11.
A decision in this regard was taken during a review meeting of the state task force on NEP 2020 held at the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan office, Babupara, in Imphal.
Participants have minutely discussed modalities of the upcoming convention during the meeting chaired by the state education minister Sorokhaibam Rajen Singh. The two-day convention would witness technical session including interaction with the resource persons.
Manipur Chief Minister, Nongthombam Biren Singh, will inaugurate the convention in the presence of ministers, MLAs, representatives of different organisations, teaching faculty, experts, and top officials of the education department.
“Holding such kind of convention is very necessary and important in order to give awareness on NEP 2020,” Rajen said. He maintained that a collective effort of the experts and officials of the concerned department is very necessary for successful implementation of the policy.
Appealing to all the concerned to cooperate with the government on such initiatives, Rajen also highlighted the achievements of the School Fagathanshi Mission. School Fagathanshi Mission is an ambitious scheme launched by the state government on January 18 in 2019 with the objective to give a facelift to government schools by developing modern infrastructure and deputing adequate manpower to enhance enrolment.
Informing that there has been an immense increase in enrolment of students in government schools during the last few years, Rajen appealed to the teachers to focus on providing quality education in the state.
Commissioners and directors of the education department, task force members, professors and other experts were also present during the meeting.
