Manipur to construct market for all tribal communities

Imphal, July 5 (EMN): Manipur Government is planning to construct a market for accommodating all tribal communities at Lamphel area in Imphal, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said on Tuesday.
Birsn Singh was speaking at the inaugural session of a capacity building training programme for women vendors of well known three Nupi Keithel (women’s market).
Social Welfare Minister Heikham Dingo, Chairperson Rekha Sharma of National Commission for Women(NCW) and Chairperson (State Commission for Women) Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang led commission members, Director(Social Welfare)Ng Uttam were also present during the inaugural function.
Biren Singh mentioned that the Manipur government had already constructed seven women markets and many such markets were also under construction.
Informing that women markets would be constructed in the remaining new districts of the state, he said the contribution of women vendors has been a major part of the rural economy.
Stressing the need for them to be well aware of the digital world so that they could cope up with the flow of development, he added that the capacity building training programme would help out in better usage of mobile technology in marketing their products and going with cashless transactions besides availing the benefits of various government schemes.
Delivering his speech, Dingo stated that the women markets of Manipur were well known across the world due to its unique features. He also sought support of all women vendors in the government’s development works to make Manipur a progressive one.
Meanwhile, thanking the Manipur State Commission for Women for the support in organising the training, Chairperson Rekha Sharma of NCW stated that she could notice women of Manipur taking part in every activity carried out in the state.
Informing that the training programme would also provide knowledge to avail loans from banks under various MSME Schemes, she was hopeful that the trained women would be the torch bearers for others. Such training would also be conducted for women vendors of hill areas.
The discussion on knowledge of relevant banking schemes and how to use online banking, knowledge of tax laws / New GST Laws and Tax Compliances and E-Commerce Demonstration were also held during the training.
During the programme, the chief minister also led the others in observing one minute silence as condolence to the departed souls of persons who lost their lives in the recent massive landslide tragedy at railway construction camp at Marangching area in Noney district.
