Manipur thrash Haryana to win Junior National Football C’ship

IMPHAL,JULY 18: Manipur emerged the champions of the Junior Girl’s National Football Championship, that was held under the aegis of the All India Football Federation, at Cuttack in Odisha.
The final match of the championship, which was held on Sunday, saw Manipur thrash Haryana 4-1.
Manipur dominated the final from the beginning, by scoring a goal in the first minute through N Ratanbala Davi.
However, Haryana fought back by taking the equalizer in the 16th minute, through Nisha.
After halftime, it was a different Manipur team: they played like champions and disallowed Haryana players from stopping them from the score.
N.Ratanbala netted her second goal in the 61th minute. Her team-mate Y Hemolata Devi ruled the last part of the game by scoring a brace in the 67th and the 90+3 minutes.
Earlier in their group-league matches, Manipur outclassed Chhattisgarh 12-0, and thrashed Maharashtra 8-0.
In the quarterfinals, Manipur clinched a convincing 12-0 victory over Jharkhand. Likewise, it blanked Odisha 3-0 and then crushed Goa 10-0 in the tournament. In the semifinal, Manipur handed a crushing 6-0 defeat to Tamil Nadu. AFC-A licence holder L Chaoba Devi and AFC-C licence holder S Manitombi represented as the team’s coach and manager, in that order, in the championship.
