Imphal, June 1 (EMN): Manipur recorded 798 new Covid-19 positive cases, pushing the state’s tally to 51,549 and active cases to 8,942, according to a press release.
The new positive cases were detected from 13 districts in the state and maximum numbers of cases were reported from Imphal West (323) and Imphal East (208) districts.
On the other hand, Manipur reported 18 Covid-19 fatalities, taking the state’s Covid-19 death toll to 825.
The deceased individuals were from Imphal West(five), Imphal East (five), Kakching (two), Churachandpur (two), Thoubal (one), Noney (one), Kangpokpi (one) and Jiribam (one) districts from eight health care centres, the release said.
Even though 41,782 persons, including 629 in the last 24 hours, have recovered so far, the recovery rate continues to stand at 81.05 percent.
As of Tuesday, 6,79,490 persons were screened at the entry points of the state while 7,23,146 persons (including 5,720 persons in the last 24 hours) were tested for Covid-19 in the state.
Meanwhile, the state reported two mucormycosis or ‘black fungus’ cases, according to a press release. It stated that two cases (one 45 years male at RIMS and 46 years male at Shija hospital) from Imphal West district were reported following Covid-19 illness. State Covid-19 common control room in its release on Tuesday said, “All hospitals, health centres or clinics are reminded to report such cases failing which may attract actions”. On the other hand the state has so far given 3,88,534 anti-Covid jabs to the residents.
