Manipur reports 3 Covid-19 deaths; 71 new cases

Imphal, Oct. 20 (EMN): Manipur reported three Covid deaths from Imphal East district alone in the last 24 hours, official sources said. The state’s Covid-19 death toll stands at 1,904.

The state also reported 71 new Covid-19 positive cases, when 2,081 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, it said. The newly detected Covid-19 cases were mainly from Imphal West(26), Imphal East(16)and Bishnupur(12) districts.

Thus, the state’s total infection tally increased to 1,22,970. The total number of active cases stands at 1904.

On the other hand, with 66 new recoveries including 17 from home isolation in the last 24 hours, the total number of recovered Covid- 19 cases in Manipur reached 1,19,706. Thus the state’s recovery rate has increased to 97.35%.

Among all the 16 districts of the state, the maximum numbers of cumulative Covid-19 positive cases were reported from Imphal West district(42,740) while the maximum number of cumulative cases among the 10 hill districts was reported from Churachandpur district(10,112).

Presently, altogether 161 Covid-19 positive cases are under home isolation. Till date 13,47,621 persons were tested for Covid -19 at the various testing centres in the state, the source said.

As per latest official reports, the state has so far given 18,48,683 doses of Covid vaccines including 12,38,100 first and 6,10,583 second doses to the residents.

Meanwhile, Manipur police on Wednesday detained 34 persons in the state for violating health protocols and released them after giving warning. An amount of INR 7,400 was also collected as fine.
