Manipur reports 10 Covid-19 fatalities, 668 recoveries

Imphal, June 10 (EMN): Manipur on Thursday reported 10 fatalities due to Covid-19, taking the state’s death toll to 925.

Imphal West reported six deaths, two from Thoubal and one each from Imphal East and Churachandpur districts. They expired at four health centres in the state, a press release issued by the State Covid-19 common control room stated.

On the other hand, Manipur recorded 730 fresh Covid cases out of 9008 samples tested in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s total infection tally to 58,081 besides increasing the total number of active cases to 9,359, it said.

The new positive cases were detected from 16 districts in the state and maximum numbers of cases were reported from Imphal West (225), Imphal East (160) and Thoubal (101) districts.

Even though 47,797 persons, including 668 in the last 24 hours, have recovered so far, the recovery rate stands at 82.29 percent.

As of Thursday, 6,84,286 persons were screened at the entry points of the state while 7,92,403 persons were tested for Covid-19 at the various testing centres in the state

Meanwhile, Manipur police detained 283 persons across the state for violating health protocols and released them after giving warning. An amount of INR 1,04,100 was also collected as fine.

On the other hand, the state has administered 5,33,888 anti-Covid jabs including 4,52,635 first and 81,253 second doses to the residents.

The total number of healthcare workers vaccinated for both the first and second doses of Covishield vaccine is 64,590 while 1,47,384 frontline workers received both doses.

Till date, the first dose of Covishield vaccine was given to 1,48,292 people between 45-59 years and 91,353 people above 60 years besides 75,497 people between 18-44 years.
