Manipur records 633 new Covid-19 cases; 7 deaths

Manipur recorded 633 new Covid-19 positive cases taking the state’s tally to 1,05,424 with 6,984 active cases, official source said.

The newly infected persons were mainly from Imphal West (271), Imphal East (133) and Churachandpur (66) districts.

Moreover, the state also reported seven Covid-19 fatalities in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s death toll to 1,664, official sources said.

The victims were from Imphal East (three), Imphal West (two), Bishnupur (one) and Tengnoupal (one) districts.

With 648 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, the total number of recovered Covid-19 cases in Manipur reached 96,776. Thus, the state’s recovery rate increases to 91.79 percent.

So far, 11,36,573 persons were tested for Covid-19 while 7,23,470 persons were screened at the entry points of the state at the various testing centres in the state, the source said.

Manipur has so far administered 14,06,729 doses of Covid vaccines including 11,53,583 first and 2,53,146 second doses to the residents.

A total of 5,84,283 first doses and 9016 second doses of Covid vaccine were given to people between 18-44 years and 2,84,338 first doses and 98,662 second doses to people between 45-59 years besides 1,43,369 first doses and 51,406 second doses to people above 60 years till date, according to the state Health department reports.

Meanwhile, Manipur police detained 62 persons in the state for violating health protocols and released them after giving warning. An amount of INR 16,550 was also collected as fine.
