Manipur rank 9th in medal tally on Day 9

On the ninth day of the ongoing 35th National Games at Kerala, Sadananda bagged one gold medal in Wushu event (Men’s Taiji Quan) for Manipur taking the tally to 15 medals which includes 7 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze medal. Services and Madhya Pradesh bagged the silver and bronze medal respectively. On Saturday, state archers also bagged two gold and two silver medals to keep the state in 9th position in the medal tally.
Meanwhile, the state’s women football team stormed into the finals after defeating host Kerala by 3-0 goals at Trissur’s Corporation Stadium on Sunday. Manipur will meet Odisha in their final. Archery teams of Manipur won two gold medals in the mixed Indian round and Indian round team events.
Earlier, Manipur’s lifters and rowers bagged two gold medals each while athletes of Yatching and Weightlifting earn two silver medals. The credit of winning four bronze medals goes to lifters, rowers and wrestlers.
Manipur is also expected to earn more gold medals from wushu, cycling and fencing events which are scheduled to begin from Monday onwards.
