Imphal, May 7 (EMN): Manipur has started preparations for the upcoming Hero Women’s Junior (U-17) National Football Championship 2022 to be held in Guwahati from June 15 and requested local football clubs to recommend probable players.
In a memorandum, All Manipur Football Association(AMFA) asked local clubs to recommend six U-17 girl players, who were born on or after January 1, 2005 and not later than December 31, 2007 by May 8.
The girl players should be registered in the central registration system (up-to-date CRS) for participation in the national football championship.
“We’re planning to start necessary steps from May 9 once the formalities are over as per the existing CRS and central monitoring system. We are expecting a good number of probable players to finalise our targeted number for the upcoming event”, said L Jyotirmoy Roy, General Secretary of AMFA.
Manipur has around six popular women football clubs. In the 33 member squad for women U-17 team national camp, Manipur has as many as 10 players including two goalkeepers.
