Manipur Police seizes 611 gram of heroin

A week after the seizure of large quantities of suspected heroin powder and suspected WY(World is Yours) tablets from a police commando vehicle, the Kakching district police on Monday detected and seized 611 gram of suspected heroin No.4 powder.

According to a police source, the said seizure was done from one RE Auto-rickshaw at Kakching Lamkhai during random frisking checking.

During the search after observing legal formalities, 50 soap cases containing suspected heroin No.4 powder were found from a modified chamber on the rear portion of the auto-rickshaw . Upon weighing, the suspected Heroin No. 4 powder was found to be 611 gram, the source added.

The detection and seizure was affected by combined teams led by Subedar S Birla Singh, Officer in Charge, Commando unit, Kakching and assisted by Head Constable N Bidyananda Singh of Commando unit, Kakching under the supervision of Binoy Chongtham, Additional SP (Ops) Kakching and under the overall Supervision of Superintendent of Police Shrey Vats Kakching district, it added.

The two occupants of the auto-rickshaw vehicle (including the driver) were identified as Henthiansang Haokip (23) of Moreh Ward no.7 and T Robert Baite (35) of Panglian village Singngat Sub-Division Churachandpur at present Moreh Chikiam village.

Accordingly, the two occupants of the auto-rickshaw vehicle were arrested. The arrested persons along with the seized articles were handed over to officer-in-charge, Kakching police station for taking up further necessary legal action.

On January 16, Manipur police teams stationed at Kakching detected and seized the suspected Heroin Number 4 powder weighing 1.336 kilogram and suspected WY tablets weighing 9.151 kilogram from a Maruti Gypsy by a team of Commando unit, Kakching district which was posted in Moreh.
