Manipur parties demand water for all public

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]ll political parties of Manipur on Monday convened a meeting at the office of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with president of BJP Manipur Pradesh Th Chaoba in the chair and discussed the issues of scarcity of water in Manipur.
The meeting had a threadbare discussion on the present prevailing situation of water scarcity in the state and hardship faced by the general public.BJP President Chaoba said that the meeting resolved to submit a joint memorandum to the Governor of Manipur for immediate supply of water to the general public without delay. A drafting committee was also constituted during the meeting.
The meeting resolved that the state government should frame a long-term State Water Policy of Manipur under the framework of National Water Policy 2002 and 2012 (special emphasis to Rain Water Harvesting/Conservation Plan, River Conservation Plan & Water Budgeting, Control of Jhum Cultivation & deforestation in the hill areas of Manipur, and restoration/construction of water bodies, massive plantation in hill areas in co-ordination with all related department. Irrigation and Flood Control Department is considered to be outdated and hence it must be upgraded as State department water resources under the mandate of Ministry of Water Resources.
Besides functionaries of BJP, the meeting was attended by representative of AAP,MPP,JD(U), NCP and BSP, sources added.

Students body detects wrong questions

Joint Co-Ordination of students body claimed to have dug out wrong key answers and some of the controversial questions in the General Studies question paper of the Manipur Civil Services combine Competitive Examination (Preliminary) 2014 conducted by Manipur Public Service Commission on April 24.
Informing this during a press conference held at the office of the DESAM at Keishampat in Imphal this evening, Co-Convenor of the Joint students body M Angamba said that 10 questions having wrong question and controversial were found to be circulated during the recent exam. Among the 200 question 70 questions are directly copied from the Union Public Service Commission. He pointed the question numbers 9,10,31,41,56,67,97,109,173 and 174 are given wrong key answer while question numbers 19,42,46 and 47 are controversial as it has different answer key.
He further said the joint students’ body condemned the act of MPSC which makes the examination look like a joke. Angamba said it shows that the question setting was also not properly monitored.
Students co-ordination body demanded to check and review the question papers after forming a high powered committee and find out the truth. They also demanded grace mark to all the candidates for those particular questions.
