Manipur open chess tournament begins

IMPHAL, OCTOBER 23: The 2nd Manipur Open Chess Tournament 2016 organised by Manipur Chess Association (MCA) got underway at Kangshang of Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal on Sunday. Manipur Deputy Chief Minister, Gaikhangam attended the program as the chief guest, while on his speech, he appreciated the organisers for promoting chess game in the state and encouraged state players to continue playing the game which is considered as one of the oldest and most relaxing game. He also encourages the people to play the game as chess players are strategists as the game improves the level of thinking and it also involves devotion, concentration, determination and use of intelligence. The tournament which is scheduled to continue till October 31 was competed by players from different districts of the state in different categories such as boys, girls, veterans etc.
