Manipur: NH 37 to remain closed for 36 hours

Imphal, June 22 (EMN): The vehicular movement along the 222km Imphal-Jiribam sector of the National Highway 37 is likely to be closed for two days in view of the repairing work of the Makru Bridge, according to reports.
National Highway & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd has reportedly informed the state authority including those stationed at Jiribam, Noney and Tamenglong to take up necessary action for stopping all type of vehicles movement on NH 37 for replacement of the Bailey bridge at Makru, 186 km west of Imphal.
The schedule for the repairing and Bailey Bridge replacement work is said to begin on June 23 from 6 am to 6 pm of June 24, said General Manager (Projects) Sunilkumar of NHIDCL, Branch office Manipur in a communiqué to SPs of Jiribam, Noney and Tamenglong.
The Imphal-Jiribam route which was always in the news in the recent past because of frequent landslide and breaking down of British period bridges along the route is currently maintained by NHIDCL.
