Manipur Naga bodies slam Momoco’s case in textbook

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Anal Naga civil organisations strongly condemned and opposed the inclusion of unfortunate incident in which a Manipur Film star Momoko was assaulted by one Livingstone Anal in the Syllabus of BA III year 6th Semester. They also opposed the illegal land encroachment at Thangbung Minou near Moreh by District Administration Chandel, Ministry of Industries and one Lalkholun Haokip of HaolenphaiVillage for construction of new township.Briefing the media persons at Panchai village in Chandel district today, President Anal Naga Taangpi (ANTA) an apex body of the Anal Tribe Wng Kohring Victor said it is very unfortunate to learn that the state government and the education department has prescribed a political science text book “Indian Government and Politics” for BA 3rd Year 6 semester Author by one Prof Naorem Rabei Singh which include the unfortunate Manipuri Actress/Singer Momoko assault incident by S/S Lt. Col. Livingstone of NSCN-IM.
Condemning the State Government, Education Deparment and Prof. N. Rabei for the inclusion of the incident in a prescribed text book,the meeting of Anal Civil Organisations including students and Women bodies on January 17 at the office of the Anal Student Union Panchai Village also adopted a resolutions demanding the state government to punish the author of the said text book Prof N Rabei Singh and to clarify the intention for inclusion of the said incident in the prescribed Syllabus as there are thousands of such incidents of killing, rape, torture, etc.
And the meeting also strongly opposed illegal land encroachment of Thangbung Minou Village near Moreh for construction of New Township by District administration Chandel, Industries Minister in collusion with one Lalkholun Haokip of Haolenphai Village. Chief of Thangbung Minou Ts. Thurhring attending the press meet said that, the land acquired by the state government for construction of new township belongs toThangbung Minou Village since time immemorail. Unfortunately, the said village was shifted temporarily to Chandel District headquarters during the Naga Kuki ethnic in the early 90s.President Anal Students Union Ps. Monihring and Village authority member of Thangbung Minou KL. Thungam also attended the press meet, source added.
All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur (ATSUM) has also strongly objected to inclusion of the Chandel incident (Momoko episode) in the BA Political Science III year syllabus. In a statement, ATSUM questioned that what does Momoko episode has to do in Indian Government and political system and cautioned that it will be compelled to launch a series of intense agitation if the government does not remove the episode from the syllabus with immediate effect.
Rally against unnatural death: The Co-Ordination Committee of the Joint Action Committees on unnatural deaths in RIMS today stagde a protest rally against the Regional Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) Director S Shekharjit for not taking up action against the doctors involving in the death of patients in the hospital.The rally which was started from the Uripok Road was stopped by the police near the gate of the RIMS. Later the members from the Committee handed over a memorandum to the RIMS Authority with the help of police.
Speaking to the media, the spokesperson of the committee Mayengbam Dorendro Singh said that RIMS authority make a false promise that they will make an inquiry regarding to the death of patient (Devjani) in delivery case but nothing has been done so far by RIMS authority.
