Imphal, March 25 (EMN):
To increase the total study time of children during dark hours and prevent them from exposure to pernicious emissions from predominantly kerosene-burning wick lamps, Manipur minister of Tribal Affairs and Hills, Vungzagin Valte, today distributed subsidised led solar study lamps to students in Churachandpur town.

Valte also launched the Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign T-shirts during the event held at YMA Hall, Hmuia Veng, Churachandpur, about 70 km south of Imphal. The event was jointly organised by the district administration and Zonal Education Office, Churachandpur.

Speaking on the occasion, Valte stated that lack of adequate and consistent lighting has a detrimental impact on the overall well-being of students from poor households. He has appreciated the untiring efforts of Ginsuanhau Zou, who is the chairman of Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA), and its director L Manglem Singh for providing reliable source of power for school going children.

Highlighting the importance of the solar lamps, he urged the students to devote maximum time in studies and make their parents proud.

A total of 6174 solar study lamps would be distributed to beneficiaries from Singngat, Henglep, Samulamlan and Churachandpur blocks under Zonal Education Office, Churachandpur.

Chairman of MANIREDA, Ginsuanhau Zou, who is also the sitting MLA of Singhat Constituency, MLA of Saikot TN Haokip,  Khaikhopau Ngaihte of Autonomous District Council Churachandpur and Director of MANIREDA Manglem Singh attended the function.
